NEWS: Accra’s first community recording studio - Vibrate Space

Vibrate Space is a community recording studio and music business program that aims to educate and equip emerging music entrepreneurs in the alternative music scene with the tools and skills they need to compete in the global music market, as well as to empower creatives through community building and mentorship.

Sandy Alibo, founder of Surf Ghana Collective, spearheaded the initiative, which included music streaming giants Spotify, LA-based creative collective pgLang, Grammy Award-winning music director, producer, and songwriter Peter Cottontale, Accra-based radio community Oroko Radio, and members from Ghanaian collective SuperJazzClub.

Vibrate will use its global partnerships to develop a program that is relevant enough to address issues in the ever-changing global music industry, and it will implement a music business educational program that will include both online and in-person workshops and masterclasses on topics carefully selected by Vibrate Studio and its partners. Individuals from the music industry will be invited to share their knowledge and experience with aspiring musicians. Practical sessions in the form of workshops will be dedicated to learning hands-on skills such as recording, mixing, mastering, and DJing, among others. This program will cater to multiple aspects of the music industry rather than just being a place to nurture promising musicians.

The studio, which is located at the Freedom Skatepark East Legon Accra Ghana, opened on October 14, 2022, and offers services such as audio recording, mixing, mastering, music production, editing, mix consultation, and masterclasses.

The studio is open to the general public. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 12 to 7 p.m.
