According to Durban police, rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, also known professionally as AKA, was murdered in a drive-by shooting on Florida Road on Friday night.
Another person, presumed to be AKA's bodyguard, was also hurt, while another unknown person, considered to be AKA's close friend, was murdered.
Previously, before provincial police confirmed the incidence, IOL independently established facts of the shooting from well-placed police sources who could not be identified because they are not authorized to speak to the media.
Later, police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda admitted that two murder cases were under investigation and that the motives for the killings had not to be discovered.
He stated one of the deceased was a prominent musician, without name.
AKA was said to be standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was killed in a drive-by shooting. Two unnamed autos are alleged to have caught fire shortly before 10 p.m. When an IOL team arrived on Friday night, police had cordoned off the area.
Customers at a neighboring restaurant told IOL that AKA had been standing outside Wish when he was shot.According to Garrith Jamieson, an ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Florida Road has been closed as a result of the shooting event on Florida Road, in which two people were confirmed deceased.
According to Jamieson, a "famous rapper" was among those killed.
The identity of the second victim is unknown at this time, however he is claimed to be AKA's close buddy. AKA was set to perform at Durban nightclub YUGO as part of his birthday celebrations, according to social media posts. Da Les, a close buddy, voiced his surprise on social media.
