NEWS: Rema BREAKS WIZKID'S RECORD ON BILLBOARD HOT 100



Divine Ikubor, professionally known as Rema, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper signed to Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records. She currently holds the record for the highest charting single by a Nigerian act on the Billboard Hot 100.

Rema shot to fame after releasing the song "Dumebi" in 2019 and hasn't stopped since. Currently, he has the highest charting single among Nigerian performers, beating afrobeats sensation Wizkid's previous Billboard Hot 100 record.

Wizkid, the lead singer and owner of starboy, previously held the record for the highest ranking Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 after his popular single "Essence," which featured Tems and Justinbieber, climbed at No. 9 on the chart.

On March 21st, 2023, the official billboard chart Twitter account reported that Rema, 22, has smashed Wizkid's record in a chart.

The singer's global hit "Calm Down," which includes Selena Gomez, climbed at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the highest charting Nigerian song so far.
