Ghanaian singer Darkua has been named the latest Up Next artist by Apple Music.The announcement was made by Apple Music, recognizing Darkua as a talented alternative singer and songwriter from Ghana. Darkua joins the ranks of notable artists who have participated in the Up Next artist development program, including Burna Boy and Tems.

Expressing her excitement, Darkua stated, "Being selected as Apple Music's Up Next for Ghana feels like a dream. This is a huge step in my career as an Afro-fusion artist." She also shared her aspirations for her recently released single, 'ECHO,' aiming to empower women by promoting sexual confidence and encouraging them to pursue their desires.

As the newest Up Next act in Ghana, Darkua will be prominently featured across Apple Music's Ghana Up Next playlist. This curated playlist showcases a diverse group of emerging artists, carefully selected by Apple Music editors from around the world. The Up Next playlist is genre-agnostic and aims to introduce these talented artists to a wider audience.

Darkua, whose real name is Naa Darkua Chinonye Wristberg, credits her musical education to the artists her parents exposed her to during her childhood. Influenced by greats such as AB Crenstil, ET Mensah, and Lagbaja, Darkua's Ghanaian and Nigerian roots have provided her with a unique fusion of sounds. Her debut single, 'Amalelor,' was released in 2021, followed by 'ECHO,' a powerful Afro-soul track that celebrates female self-confidence.

Apple Music's Up Next program has a rich history of supporting talented artists, including Grammy-nominated individuals like 6lack, H.E.R., Koffee, Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, and Stefflon Don, among others. The program aims to provide a platform for emerging artists, propelling them to greater success and recognition.
