NEWS: Tory Lanez Begins 10-Year Prison Sentence at North Kern State Prison, Mugshot Released.

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has commenced his 10-year prison sentence at North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, following his conviction related to the 2020 assault of Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez's mugshot has been released as he begins serving his sentence.

On August 8, Judge David Herriford sentenced Lanez after he was found guilty of three charges connected to the assault incident. Despite a recent motion for bail to appeal the sentence, this request was denied by Judge Herriford on September 14.

Confirmed by The Shade Room and legal reporter Meghann Cuniff, Lanez was transferred to North Kern State Prison on September 19. The facility, situated 35 miles north of Bakersfield, serves as both a reception center and a medium to minimum custody facility.

California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation Inmate records indicate Lanez was moved from the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to this facility. As part of the intake process, inmates' mental and physical health are assessed, a procedure that can last up to 90 days before a transfer to a more suitable rehabilitation-focused facility.

Lanez is anticipated to spend three to six months at North Kern State Prison before being transferred to a long-term facility to complete his sentence. He will receive credit for 353 days served, considering his time at Los Angeles County Jail and post-sentencing period.

Despite his incarceration, Lanez is actively pursuing an appeal of his prison sentence, with the appeal process expected to extend into 2024. However, Judge Herriford stands by his sentencing, asserting that no errors were made during the legal proceedings.
