NEWS: Metro Boomin Donates $100,000 to Support St. Louis Women in Memory of Late Mother.

Metro Boomin, the acclaimed music producer known for his chart-topping albums, has made a significant contribution to his hometown of St. Louis in honor of his late mother, Leslie Joanne Wayne. Wayne, who was a victim of domestic violence, tragically lost her life in 2022.

The producer announced a $100,000 donation to five local nonprofits focused on supporting women. Partnering with Rung for Women and Amazon Access, Metro Boomin allocated $20,000 each to Almost Home, Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation, the Haven of Grace, the Little Bit Foundation, and Parents as Teachers. These funds will assist women with expenses such as debt, utilities, childcare, and rent.

"I’ve seen firsthand the work that goes into being a single mother. Mine was my inspiration and my hero," Metro Boomin stated. "It’s very important to me to pay it forward because I see the same resilience and dedication in the women these organizations work with."

The donations were raised during the Leslie Joanne Soirée holiday event held at Rung, in partnership with Amazon Access. Leslie Gill, Rung’s president, praised Metro Boomin's dedication, saying, "Inspired by the remarkable love he has for his late mother, he is demonstrating a commitment to women and to our community." Rung for Women will also serve as Metro’s fiduciary agent as he prepares to launch his independent nonprofit foundation.

Metro Boomin's late mother played a crucial role in his early career, famously driving him from St. Louis to Atlanta to connect with emerging rappers. This donation reflects his ongoing commitment to honoring her legacy by supporting single mothers and women in need.
