Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs may be serving his 50-month federal prison sentence near home. According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, Judge Arun Subramanian has recommended that Diddy be placed in a facility as close to the New York metropolitan area as possible.
The judge did not specify a particular prison but emphasized the need for access to a substance abuse treatment program, including the Bureau of Prisons’ Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) — if Diddy qualifies.
Diddy’s legal team previously suggested FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey as the best option, citing its proximity to family and available rehabilitation programs. The facility sits roughly 77 miles from the Manhattan courthouse where his trial took place.
While prosecutors took “no position” on the location, the Bureau of Prisons will make the final decision on where Diddy will serve his time.
However, wherever he lands, safety remains a concern. Diddy’s longtime attorney Mark Geragos warned during an appearance on the 2 Angry Men podcast that the hip-hop star could be a target for other inmates, even in a low-security facility.
