Ghanaian musician King Promise called Nigerians as "the most patriotic Africans ever" in an interview with TV personality Abeiku Santana. He said that Nigerians would prefer local musicians above worldwide stars like as Canadian rapper Drake, whilst Ghanaians would do the reverse.
When he complimented Nigerians for their unwavering support for their creatives, it stirred controversy, making several Ghanaians feel degraded and unappreciated.
To prove his argument, King Promise contrasted the reactions of fans in the two countries to their musicians on an unnamed portal. He described Ghanaians dismissing his team's efforts to have him included on the platform and comparing him to other previously featured musicians. When a Nigerian act was featured on the platform, followers of the musicians dismissed the previously featured acts, proclaiming the Nigerian artist's performance to be the best on the platform.
