NEWS: JULIAN MARLEY LEADS AN ALL-STAR LINE-UP TO ABIDJAN FOR CANEX 2022


The Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND) 2022 is about to reach a spectacular finish with the announcement of the star cast of artists who will perform on the last day of the three-day summit.

The All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, and CANEX WKND have handpicked an all-star lineup to highlight the variety of talent from throughout the continent, with an essential tribute to the diaspora.

Artists from throughout Africa will bring their star power and passion to the closing event of what promises to be a momentous moment for Africa's creative sector.

Julian Marley, son of the famous Bob Marley, and Yemi Alade, a multiple award-winning Nigerian afro-pop singer, are among those set to delight participants and the continent at large.

Others include Josey (Cote d'Ivoire), Nandy (Tanzania), Nadia Nakai (South Africa), Suspect 95 (Cote d'Ivoire), Didi B (Cote d'Ivoire), and DJ Mohgreen (Morocco/France).

According to the organizers, Toofan, Blinky Bill, Ayodele, The Cavemen, Elaine, and Oswald Kouamé et N'Zassa Music will also be playing.

CANEX WKND 2022 is scheduled to take place from November 25 to November 27, 2022 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

It will be a three-day conference of creatives, investors, industry leaders, creative industry enterprises, and government representatives, with a heavy emphasis on exchanging skills and best practices from Africa's creative and cultural industries.

CANEX WKND is more than just a business-to-business conference geared at Africa and the diaspora's thriving creative industry; it's also a celebration of the world's creative talent.

CANEX WKND 2022 will serve as a precursor to the next Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) Summit, which will be held at IATF2023.

The latter is a conference that will feature prominent African and international speakers as well as a range of workshops on African trade and investment.

CANEX WKND is free to all participants, with main event sessions featuring a variety of intense masterclasses beginning on Thursday, November 24.

These main plenary sessions will feature experts such as Prof. Bruce Onobrakpeya (Nigeria); Didier Drogba, Retired Professional Footballer (Côte d'Ivoire); Alex Okosi, Managing Director of EMEA Emerging Markets at YouTube (Nigeria); Elvis Adidiema, Director, Sony Music for French-speaking Africa (Congo); and Abdul-Karim Abdullah, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Culture Management

Magali Ohouens, Modern Art Specialist & Exhibition Coordinator at Cécile Fakhoury Gallery (Côte d'Ivoire); Armando Cabral, Founder and Creative Director, Armando Cabral (Portugal); and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Author (Nigeria), among others, will participate in the sessions.
