Celebrated American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder has officially become a Ghanaian citizen after taking the Oath of Allegiance and receiving his Certificate of Citizenship at a special ceremony held at the Jubilee House, Ghana's seat of government.
The event, which took place on Monday, May 13, marked a significant moment in Stevie Wonder's life as he embraced his new status as a Ghanaian. Kow Essuman, legal counsel to President Akufo-Addo, shared the news on social media, extending congratulations to the music legend for his decision to become a citizen of Ghana.
"Stevie Wonder is officially Ghanaian. He has just taken the Oath of Allegiance and received the Certificate of Citizenship by Registration at Jubilee House. Congratulations, Sir, and welcome to Ghana," Essuman announced.

The timing of the ceremony held special significance as Stevie Wonder also celebrated his 74th birthday on the same day, May 13, 1950, adding an extra layer of joy to the occasion.
