NEWS: Captain Smart Urges Shatta Wale to Sue Charterhouse for Playing His Songs at TGMAs.

During the recent Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), DJ Black played several of Shatta Wale's songs, leading to mixed reactions from Shatta Movement fans. Tracks like "Hosanna," "Dancehall King," "Shatta City," and "Ayoo" were heard throughout the venue, prompting various responses from netizens on social media, including Shatta Wale himself.

Some believed it was inappropriate for Charterhouse to feature Shatta Wale's music after he withdrew from the awards, seeing it as contradictory. Others argued that Charterhouse, known for allegedly undermining Shatta Wale, inadvertently acknowledged his importance by including his music at the event, suggesting that Shatta Wale was essential to the ceremony despite past conflicts.

Captain Smart added to the discussion by urging Shatta Wale to take legal action against Charterhouse. He contended that if Shatta Wale was banned from participating, his music should not have been played.

"Charterhouse claimed to have banned Shatta Wale, the God of Ghanaian music, yet his songs played at the TGMAs. It's clear they can't do without him. While other songs failed to excite the crowd, Shatta's tracks had everyone dancing. Shatta, if you don't sue Charterhouse, I will," he declared.

Captain Smart also criticized Charterhouse, suggesting that foreign interests, particularly from Nigeria, have too much influence over Ghana's entertainment industry. He lamented the frequent awarding of Best African Artiste to Nigerian artists, implying a biased selection process.

"We have allowed foreigners to dominate our industry. They award whoever they want. Just imagine, they always give the Best African Artiste award to Nigerians," he remarked.

The 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards were held at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Center, on June 1, 2024. The event showcased impressive performances from many Ghanaian musicians, with Stonebwoy winning the coveted 'Artiste of the Year' award.
