NEWS: Kendrick Lamar Could Tie MJ and Whitney Houston’s AMA Records with 2025 Nominations.

Hip-hop heavyweight Kendrick Lamar is on the verge of making American Music Awards history, leading this year’s nominations with an impressive 10 nods — the highest of any artist in the 2025 race.

The Compton rapper is nominated in a diverse mix of categories, including Artist of the YearAlbum of the Year for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, and a record-breaking three nominations in the Favorite Hip-Hop Song category alone, with “Not Like Us,” “Euphoria,” and “Mother I Sober” all contending.

If Kendrick sweeps all his categories, he would tie the all-time single-night record of 8 wins — a feat only achieved by music legends Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Jackson set the bar in 1984, while Houston matched it in 1994.

This potential milestone is a defining moment not just for Kendrick but for hip-hop as a genre. Known for his poetic lyricism, bold storytelling, and social consciousness, Lamar has always been more than just a rapper. He’s a cultural force — and now, he's on track to etch his name alongside the greatest icons in American music history.

Lamar’s closest competition includes Taylor Swift, who scored 6 nominations, and Post Malone, who follows closely with 8. However, Kendrick’s dominance in both genre-specific and general categories solidifies him as the front-runner for the night.

Fans can cast their votes via VoteAMAs.com and on Instagram until May 15. The 2025 American Music Awards will air live on May 26 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, and for the first time, broadcast on CBS.

With a new platform, a fresh location, and Kendrick Lamar on the brink of history — all eyes are on the AMAs.
