NEWS: Medikal and Kweku Flick Back Kwesi Arthur Amid Ground Up Chale Drama.

Ghanaian rappers Medikal and Kweku Flick have publicly thrown their support behind fellow artist Kwesi Arthur following his explosive allegations against his former label, Ground Up Chale, and its CEO Glen Boateng.

Arthur’s recent Instagram story detailed years of alleged manipulation, threats, and financial exploitation by the label. He claimed that despite leaving Ground Up Chale after his 2022 album Son of Jacob, the company continued to assert ownership over his music, image, and creative works dating back to 2016. The situation escalated recently when he was reportedly asked to pay $150,000 just to use images of himself for his independent project, Redemption Valley.

In the wake of Arthur’s post going viral, fellow rapper Medikal (Samuel Adu Frimpong, known on X as @amgmedikal) took to social media to show solidarity. He urged the label to “leave Kwesi Arthur alone,” emphasizing that Arthur had already “paid his dues” and should no longer be hindered or exploited. Medikal also highlighted the importance of fair treatment for creatives in the music industry, drawing from his own experiences in Ghana’s hip-hop scene.

Kweku Flick, on the other hand, shared a heartfelt message to Arthur on X:

"I now understand why all our collaborations couldn't happen, I have been worried about this for a long time. Was asking myself 'why why why doesn't he like me'?? Not knowing it wasn't his fault!! Have you @KWESIARTHUR_85. God says you're the chosen one, who be man?? Don't ever lose your mind my brother. Stay strong, your mental well-being matters, and I'm always here if you need me."

The support from Medikal and Kweku Flick has sparked widespread discussion among fans and industry peers. Users on X have praised both artists for standing by Arthur, with many commending their “realness” and sense of solidarity in the often cutthroat music industry.

This show of support is particularly notable given the two rappers’ history with Arthur. Medikal and Arthur previously collaborated on the 2021 track DIFFERENT, released under Ground Up Chale, giving Medikal insight into the label’s operations. Yet, despite this connection, he chose to side with Arthur, underscoring the seriousness of the rapper’s allegations.

As of now, Ground Up Chale has not issued any public response to the claims made by Arthur, nor to the statements from Medikal and Kweku Flick. Fans continue to monitor the situation closely, especially as Redemption Valley prepares for its official release across all major streaming platforms on February 6, 2026.
