Ghanaian musician Herman Suede has officially graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Business Administration, marking a major milestone in both his academic and music journey.
The artiste, born Jason Herman Bortei-Doku, celebrated the achievement during the university’s Spring 2026 graduation ceremony in Lynchburg, Virginia. Taking to social media after the ceremony, Herman Suede shared his excitement with fans, announcing, “SUEDE IS BACK IN OFFICE,” while hinting at a stronger return to music.
According to the young star, balancing school and his music career over the past eight years has not been easy. In a heartfelt message shared alongside videos from his graduation, he revealed that he struggled to remain consistent as an independent artiste while pursuing higher education.
“By the grace of God, a new chapter unfolds. Get ready for WAR,” he wrote.
Born in Accra on November 21, 2002, Herman Suede discovered his musical abilities at a very young age. He reportedly began learning classical piano at age five and later started creating his own songs while still in school. Over the years, he successfully combined academics with his passion for music, gradually building a name for himself in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
Known for blending Afro Pop, R&B, Afrofusion, and Rap, Herman Suede has drawn inspiration from both African and international acts such as Drake, Sarkodie, Wizkid, Burna Boy, King Promise, and M.anifest.
He first gained attention with songs such as “Be Mine,” “Questions,” “Pretty Mama,” and “Homies,” before releasing his debut EP Hi I’m Herman in 2019. The project included collaborations with members of the La Meme Gang, including RJZ.
Over the years, Herman Suede has continued to grow his catalogue with projects and singles including Bittersweet, Kumbaya, A Wonderful Time, “One By One,” “Star,” “How Dare You,” and “Naa Kwarley.” He also made headlines in 2019 after becoming one of the youngest Ghanaian artistes to headline his own concert, “After Prep.”
Despite relocating to the United States for university studies around 2020, the singer remained active in music while completing his degree program.
Now with his academic journey completed, fans are expecting a more focused and consistent musical run from the 23-year-old artiste. His recent social media activity suggests that new music and major projects may soon be on the way.
Herman Suede’s achievement has been widely praised by fans and industry observers, many describing it as an inspiring example of discipline, hard work, and perseverance in balancing education with entertainment.
