Yvonne Nelson, Ghanaian actress, has made a startling revelation about her past. In her recently published book, titled "I am not Yvonne Nelson," she disclosed that she underwent an abortion in 2010 after a brief relationship with rapper Sarkodie. The revelation took place during the book launch at Peduase Lodge in Ghana on Sunday.
Yvonne detailed the alleged abortion in chapter eight of her book, specifically on pages 88 to 95. She recounted the experience, explaining that she had taken a pregnancy test to confirm her suspicions after missing her monthly period—a conclusion that seemed inevitable for a sexually active young woman. Accompanied by her friend Karen, Yvonne anxiously awaited the test result.
Overwhelmed by apprehension, Yvonne found herself unable to open the test result on her own. It was Karen who opened it and revealed the verdict, exclaiming, "Charlie, it dey there!" Yvonne shared that under different circumstances, this announcement would have triggered laughter and lighthearted conversations. However, the gravity of the situation weighed heavily on her, realizing that this grim news had the potential to upend her world.
Recognizing that she was not solely responsible for the situation, Yvonne contacted the man whose contribution had led to the pregnancy. His name is Michael Owusu Addo, widely known as Sarkodie—a renowned Ghanaian musician. Yvonne clarified that their connection was not a serious relationship but rather a natural affinity she felt towards people in the music industry.
In her book, Yvonne recounted her attempts to terminate the pregnancy through the use of concoctions provided by a colleague. Unfortunately, these substances proved ineffective, as subsequent tests confirmed her ongoing pregnancy. Eventually, she managed to successfully terminate the pregnancy, but Yvonne admits that this decision stands as one of the most regrettable mistakes in her life.
