NEWS: Accra High Court Orders Shatta Wale to Pay $120,000 for Festival No-Show, Plus Interest and Damages.

Accra High Court, presided over by her ladyship Afi Agbanu Kudomor, has issued a verdict compelling the self-proclaimed Dancehall King, Shatta Wale, to reimburse $120,000 alongside damages to Maverick City Entertainment, the organizers behind the Wildaland Festival.

The court's decision stems from Shatta Wale's alleged failure to fulfill his performance commitment at the 2021 Wildaland Festival despite receiving advance payment, resulting in substantial financial losses for the event coordinators.

In addition to the specified $120,000 restitution, Shatta Wale is further mandated to remit interest on the sum at a rate of 5.5%, calculated from December 14, 2021, until the final settlement date. This accrues an additional amount of $10,892.47.

The legal ruling serves as a consequential measure to address the financial repercussions incurred by Maverick City Entertainment due to Shatta Wale's non-compliance with his contractual obligations.
