NEWS: Twitter Influencer and Activist, Kalyjay Elaborates on How He Started and Headed the FixTheCountry Campaign

During a podcast interview on the Rants and Bants show, Joshua Buernortey Boye-Doe, popularly known as Kalyjay, discussed how his interest in the government's failure to improve the lives of the people grew over the last few years, and how he used his platforms to speak up for the youth.

As his Twitter following grew, he began receiving numerous messages from individuals seeking financial aid. "When you come online, you find people texting you that they need help with food, hospital bills, and jobs," he shared during the interview.

He also shared that the turning point for him was a video of a pregnant woman on a hospital floor. This, along with the constant requests and struggles of Ghanaians, led him to start the #FixTheCountry campaign.

Kalyjay explained that despite the claims of the government that they were doing their best, issues like unemployment, poor governance, and lack of social amenities still abound in the country, hence his resilience in speaking up for better conditions and governance.

He further stated that he and other influencers launched the #StopGalemsey campaign to pressure the government to end illegal mining, known as Galemsey among the locals, which has polluted over 60% of the country's water bodies.

Kalyjay stressed that he and other activists are committed to making their voices heard through demonstrations to push for change.
