NEWS: IGP Leads Ghana Police Delegation to Strengthen U.S.–Ghana Law Enforcement Cooperation at FBI New York Field Office.

The Inspector-General of Police, COP. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has led a high-level delegation from the Ghana Police Service to the FBI’s New York Field Office in a landmark visit aimed at deepening law enforcement collaboration between Ghana and the United States.

The visit marks a major step toward enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as cybercrime prevention, counterterrorism, and intelligence sharing, reflecting Ghana’s growing commitment to modern, globally connected policing.

The Ghanaian team was officially received by Assistant Director-in-Charge Christopher Raia and senior officials of the FBI. Both sides engaged in strategic discussions focused on strengthening operational ties, improving information exchange, and building capacity to combat transnational crime.

“This collaboration reaffirms our shared responsibility to protect our people and ensure justice through innovation and partnership,” said IGP Yohuno.

During the meeting, the two institutions explored ways to enhance technical training for Ghanaian officers, particularly in digital forensics and investigative technology, as well as collaborative frameworks for tackling financial and cyber-enabled crimes that affect both countries.

The FBI commended the Ghana Police Service for its ongoing reforms and modernization agenda, describing the partnership as “an important pillar for international security cooperation.”

The visit also signals Ghana’s readiness to work more closely with U.S. agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in future engagements.

As Ghana continues to position itself as a leader in West African security, this collaboration with the FBI is expected to create long-term benefits for law enforcement capacity, public safety, and the fight against cross-border criminal networks.
