NEWS: Nigerian Singer Ink Boy Demands Royalties from Sarkodie for ‘One Million’ Song.

Nigerian artist Ink Boy has taken to social media to voice his grievances against Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, demanding fair compensation for his contribution to the hit song ‘One Million Cedis,’ featured on Sarkodie’s widely acclaimed ‘Jamz’ album.

Originally released in November 2022, ‘One Million Cedis’ garnered significant attention and success, largely due to the catchy hooks and melodies provided by Ink Boy. However, despite the song's commercial success, Ink Boy claims he has yet to receive any royalties from Sarkodie or his management team.

In a series of candid posts on social media platform X, Ink Boy expressed frustration over the lack of acknowledgment and compensation for his creative input. He lamented facing criticism from Sarkodie's fanbase for speaking out against what he perceives as an injustice, highlighting the challenges faced by artists in asserting their rights within the music industry.

Despite Sarkodie's acknowledgment of Ink Boy's contribution to the song's title during a previous interview, the rapper and his team have remained silent on the recent allegations, leaving the dispute unresolved.

In an effort to shed light on the situation, Ink Boy revealed in a past interview with 3Music TV that while there was no formal agreement in place regarding his involvement in the project, discussions with Sarkodie’s team were underway to rectify the issue. Ink Boy remains hopeful that these discussions will lead to a fair resolution and proper compensation for his artistic contributions.

The ongoing dispute underscores the importance of transparent collaboration and fair compensation within the music industry. It serves as a reminder of the need for artists to protect their creative rights and ensure that they are adequately compensated for their work.
